Summary: 5 passable tracks out of 40
Comment: If this were playing at a party i'd leave. Quickly.

I could only be bothered with 5 tracks over the two discs. I had been listening to Sash's Best of before and I like exotic, fluidic and seductive dance music with real ambience, so I was looking forward to discovering some good tracks on this album, and was sorely disappointed.

The Ministry of Sound delivers an ugly sound, a series of dirges and arrangments of jarring noise. Rather than evoking feelings and memories of balmy, boozy summer nights on holiday with friends, this very bland and cynical selection of rude-boy 'roid-rage anthems reminded me of trying to avoid trouble in chain bars in clone towns on a friday night, full of pissheads and slappers, while generic dross like this was pumped through the sound system. The fact that two tracks feature a brand of expensive watch in their titles shows the level this is at; Facile and unimaginative.

If you want an uplifting sonic sensation, you should go elsewhere, and I would recommend the Euphoria albums, because most of the tracks here are depressingly similar and not very sexy at all.

Avoid.

Summary: Another year "not" in clubland
Comment: I can only presume the 4/5 star reviews of from people that either don't go clubbing or only listen to the charts in shops. When you take material from the likes of Basshunter and Josh Guru (two annoyingly over-played tracks), then slap on the title 'The Annual', one can only wonder what's happened to all the songs we lost it to on your average night out. Theirs obviously a genuine change in material from commercial clubs to the smaller underground/upstairs ones, but even the more popular venues offer better material than this tripe. Ministry may as well just join forces with 'Clubland', because that's how bad they're getting! This album has absolutely no relevance to any of the successful nights which take place each month, whether it be Chibuku, or indeed any of Ministry's own nights.

I was in HMV in the other week and even spotted a rack of The Annual 2009 Gift Box Sets with Perfume... Oh dear oh dear. I'm sure that'll make someones day....

Summary: Probably the last MOS Annual I will ever buy...!!!
Comment: I'd have to agree with the more negative reviews here. Just the inclusion of Basshunter's "Now You're Gone", has blown any credibility of the Annual series all by itself. I think maybe The Annual has had its day.

Summary: Braaaap!
Comment: So so good, Ministry deliver once again, puts me in a brilliant mood every time i wack it on! Loads of instant classics on here and every so often a nice fat slice of pop(you know you love a bit of basshunter really!)

Stop hatin' and start dancing!

Summary: Great album
Comment: I collect a lot of dance albums, and for me MoS' Annuals do exactly what they're supposed to. If you think of hit dance track from the last year you can be sure it's on there, and it'll also open your eyes to a few that you may have missed. Man With The Red Face and Infinity 08 are set to be all time classics, Get Down Again always puts a smile on my face, Singin' In The Rain, I could go on and on.. Great album.
