Customer Rating: Summary: Works for editing AVCHD files Comment: I bought Nero 9 to edit AVCHD footage from a Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder and to create DVDs from the edited movies. I tried all the other software I could, and Nero 9 was one of the few products which actually worked.
AVCHD importing is easy, as is editing. The DVD creation tool is straight-forward to use and menu creation is also easy. The DVDs produced play back fine on my low-end DVD player.
The installation was slow, but that's not a huge problem for me. Nero is also cheaper than most of the other AVCHD editing packages.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works great with AVCHD Comment: I needed some software that would allow me to create DVD's from my Panasonic HDC-SD9 camcorder. I have used other versions of Nero in the past and have always found it to be a good product. After reading the poor reviews I was a bit worried about installing on my Vista 64bit Ultimate PC. I therefore downloaded the trial (9.0.9.4) from the Nero website. I decided to disable my anti-virus (just in case) and it installed fine. Unfortunately the trial version does not let you edit or view AVCHD files. I decided to bite the bullet and buy the software, and upon arrival I just added the activation key to the existing trial install rather than reinstalling the whole product. It all seems to work fine so far and I have created my first DVD very easily.
I'm not sure why people are giving this software such a bad review. The version that I installed was no problem. Yes, it does take a long time to install (about 45 mins) but it is around 2-3GB in size. This seems like a lot so I would suggest not installing any components that you don't need.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nero 9 just does not work with Vista Comment: Having read the previous reviews on Nero 9 I couldn't beleive they were writing about a program that I have used for many years from the very early versions.I decided to buy it and see for myself.
HOW RIGHT THE REVIEWS WERE.
This software is the worst I have ever encountered. I have always had minor issues of compatability with Nero software, but this takes the biscuit.
It takes ages to install, doesn't work with Windows Media Center, and to cap it all I spent two or three hours ( my connection is slow) downloading a 382MB update which still didn't put things right.
I decided to uninstall it, and wouldn't you believe it, it took over an hour to do just that.
It gets one star from me only because there is nothing lower
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Comment: If an OAP can install this then anybody can.
Just make sure you follow the instructions, uninstall any previous versions of Nero, turn off your antivirus and GO.
Took about 90 minutes to install on my vista system, but hey everythings slow when your'e old.
Haven't tried all of the functions yet but it's only been installed 3 days, hence only 4 stars as yet.
Customer Rating: Summary: Overpriced rubbish Comment: Sorry to be negative but just what has happened to Nero? I heartily endorse the poor reviews previously given.
To be perfectly honest, if all you want to do is rip CD's and make copies, then use Windows Media Player, or buy a OEM basic Nero 8 disc for about £1 from any computer shop. If you want to rip and copy DVD's then go to Download.Com and get DVD Shrink and CD BurnerXP for free! It's dead simple, gives you good copies, but minus all the flashing lights, whistles and bells that Nero want you to pay £30/£40 for.
In fact, there's not much software worth paying good money for these days, believe me.
