Comment: I bought this mach 7 as it says its good for picking up pet hair, well not in our case, 3 weeks after purchase the brush bar melted inside from being clogged up!! replaced the brush bar, but now have to strip it down once a week to remove the dog hair from "inside" the brush bar next to the bearing, so it hardly good for pets is it, amazon were great giving us a full refund, so off to buy another dyson now!!!!!!!!!

Comment: recently purchased the vax mach 7 online having considered dyson alternatives but price was the main factor here! almost half the price of a dyson and once unpacked, easy to assemble and great suction as the box says, 6 year gran too! must buy.

I have just bought this after years of Dysons.
It has brilliant suction, an excellent range of accessories and is quieter than the DC04 it replaces. The light seems a bit superfluous, who vacuums in the dark?
However, it has, in my view, two serious design faults.
1 The "Dirt Cup" ie the container which collects the dust and dirt has a pathetic capacity (less than half the DC04) and this is because the electric cord rewind reel just beneath it takes up too much space. Parenthetically, I have never thought spring-loaded cable rewind devices were a great idea, they tend to be heavy and are something else to go wrong.
2 The balance is all wrong. At 10.6 kg the VZL is 2.6kg (nearly 6lbs) heavier than the DC04. This may reflect a sturdier machine but because most of the weight seems to be concentrated in the column which contains the rewind reel, the dirt cup and associated piping the machine is tiring to use for any length of time. The effect is like having a wheelbarrow with too much weight in the barrow.
Overall, I rate it three stars. I think it has some excellent features but could do with a few desgn tweaks.

Comment: The price of this bagless vacuum cleaner was amazing. It works very well nuch better than the Dyson it has replaced. Mine is only a few weeks old and there are two gripes.
1 At 11.5kg it is a massively heavy machine to use.
2 Mine has a problem and the help line is not very helpfull.

Comment: Firstly, I will address some of the negative comments on this product.
Too heavy - If you have or have had a Dyson, your biceps will be pretty much bulging from lugging around that; this is no heavier. My wife is a petit 5'2" and it doesn't seem to bother her much.
To expensive - Have you seen the price of other brands???
Marks hard wood flooring - Must have rolled it through mud, because I have hardwood flooring and it hasn't made a single scratch.
Too noisy - It's a vaccum cleaner! What do you expect? It is quieter than my old Dyson.
Plus points:
Could sook a golf ball through a garden hose. Keep it away from small animals and childen as you might lose them as you laugh in glee at how much extra "stuff" this thing sucks up. Poor wee faces spinning aroung in the clear cyclone system chamber. It is a seriously powerfull machine. Hence the weight I presume.
It has more connectors and attachments than R2-D2, including a mini stair cleaner that should be reason alone to buy it.
It has a cool blue light that possibly has a reason other than looking cool, but no idea what it is.
The hepa filter keeps the wee airborne particles out of the air. I cannot believe the difference this makes!
As you can tell I like this product, but I believe it to be a machine that certainly equals that of its more pricey rivals and in many aspects does it better. Well done VAX, you've converted me.
