Summary: great if it worked
Comment: i could't get the knack of this kept using my own peeler then i got it but the zyliss let me down and stopped working, it then started on its own several times buzzing away on the worktop all day but when i tried to use it would not turn on! could not find any explanation for this eratic behaviour and now its sadly cluttering up my drawers. Good idea if it worked!

Summary: Waste of Money
Comment: No easier to use than a standard peeler, in fact probably less easy! You still have to move the peeler to achieve your results and the fact that the blade vibrates, helps very little. The additional bulk of this device makes peeling more awkward. Ours was returned!

Summary: Don't bother, rubbish
Comment: In my opinion this is a load of rubbish and should be thrown away along with your first peelings!
Much slower than a conventional peeler, heavy, bulky, uncomfortable, results were in most cases worse too.
I find it hard to belive that someone with hand damage or limited movement would find this any easier than a normal peeler. It is much heavier and I found it too bulky to actually feel comfortable.
Really don't waste your money on this, I think you will regret it.

Summary: Piece of junk
Comment: Hand on heart, I've never come across a battery-powered product this much worse than its non-powered equivalent. They've tried to clone the success of the powered razors like the Gillette Fusion (which I like) - down to cloning the adverts - but something went horribly wrong in development. It's too heavy, poorly balanced, and gouges randomly sized strips out of the fruit or veg its used with. Avoid.

Summary: Very Handy to have.
Comment: I like useful gadgets in the home and decided to purchase what looked like an unique item. Generally I've never been satisfied with Vegetable peeler's until some months back, I found one with a sturdy thick handle and good blade. So I now have two.

This model takes 4 AA sized batteries and it't both pretty powerful and feels nice and chunky in the hand. The plastic blade cover is pretty useless and easily falls off. Poor retaining clip - actually zilch clip.

To give it a fair trial; I got two young female friends as well as myself to test both peeler's on Potatoes; Tomatoes and Apples.

They both liked the Electronic model but felt (as I did) that it had a distinct preference for working at it's own pace whereas you could control the pace of the conventional hand peeler. I don't feel that this is a criticism but rather an example of how fast people like any peeler to work. So for speed the conventional won pretty easily. However for delicate peeling - such as the tomatoes, the electronic one was better as the vibrating blade bit easily into the fruit whereas you "pushed" into the fruit with the other one.

So who would use it?

Well in a nutshell, anybody with poor hand usage and ability to hold and push as with an ordinary peeler, as it does it for you. It's slower of course, but is that such a big deal when you suddenly find you can now do things, you haven't been able to do for years?

I recommend it.
